In West Oakland, the UP 3204 shows off its rare small cab lettering. In the mid-70's, UP started using its big block lettering for its Union Pacific on the side of the locomotives. By 1982, many of its SD40's and older SD40-2's had made it back into the paint shop for the modification of their lettering, but 3204 was one the last hold-outs, at least for SD40-2's.
