The Illinois Central in the mid-1980's was in the midst of scaling itself down to a north-south spine line with somewhat more modern motive power. But in 1984, new power was a luxury, so cleaning up some power was the next best thing. Here black painted GP40 3014 waits with GP8 7717, GP10 8291, GP35 635, and GP10 8097.
