In July 2003, there are still pockets of SP that haven't been
completely wiped out by the massive capital investment of the
UP. Here on July 3, 2003, the Guadalupe Switcher works it namesake
home before going onto to the coke plant at Callendar. The local's
power today is 7940 and 7666, showing some wear and tear, but
still flying the fallen flag of the SP. |

Solid SP painted lashups are becoming hard to come by 2002.

Very little looks like its changed on this sunny spring March
22, 2001. Two relatively rare birds on the former SP, GP40R
SSW 7960 and GP40P-2 SP 7602 hold down the Hollister Local as
they switch out cars at Luchessa, south of Gilroy. |

At 2:40PM, March 16, 2001, former Rio Grande SD40T-2 5412,
now in SP scarlet and gray, blasts through Camphora, CA with
six mates and an 82 car train. The crew has just spent the past
hour waiting for Amtrak at Soledad and is trying to make the
long siding at Salinas before going on the law. Power is SP5412-UP6102-CNW6925-CNW6914-UP6041-SP8645-SP8699. |

February 5, 2001 finds the power off the MWCOX pushing back
into the Oxnard Yard. The majority of the cars off this train
have just been pushed into the interchange tracks with the Ventura
County Railway. Power is SP7365-UP3794-SP8634-SP7429-SP8316. |

On November 22, 2000, a southbound blasts upgrade and around
a curve between King City and San Lucas. Power today is SP SD70M
9824 and UP GP50 5534 and C40-8W 9417. |

SP 7122 leads SP 4811 and UP 2561 on the Salinas Turn with
nine cars south of Bradley on the Coast Line on August 24, 2000.
This train has just dropped off a small string of oil cans at
Wunpost in an unusual operation that occured while the Coast
Line was out of service further south. |

CA for a northbound freight. This could be anytime in the past
five years, with SP 4825 and 7611 having this local in charge. |

The SD45 on the former SP had its last stand in 2000 and 2001.
SP7478 leads SD40T-2 8327 on the East Flyer as it runs 72 hoppers
downgrade on Ansel Hill towards Palmdale on January 10, 2000. |
