Notes:
1. UP GP50 977 was retired July 15, 2002. It has now been reactivated
for conversion to a slug. The mother unit will be GP40-2 1461. This is
the only known GP50 conversion at this time -- it has not yet been assigned
a slot in the UPY number series, nor does if have a new model designation
yet.
2. Renumbered at National Railway Equipment - Mount Vernon, Illinois.
3. Supposed to be renumbered to 1970 but that number was still active.
4. Supposed to be renumbered to 1997 but that number was still active.
5. Supposed to be renumbered to 2172 but that number was still active.
6. The number series 3839-3973 is being cleared for potential SD70M placement
in the future, so high numbered SD40-2s are being moved to open number
slots in the lower 3000s. This is only planning for future SD70Ms placement
and is not a final decision at this time.
