My railfanning trip to the East Coast started at Lamberts Point, VA, on the west side of Norfolk, where the NS has a large coal loading facility. Here is a collection of rebuilds working for the NS: NS GP40-2 3101 was rebuilt in 2008 from a NS GP38AC. It gained both a turbo and slug controls. NS RP-E4D slugs 918 and 936 were rebuilt from an N&W GP9 and GP18 respectively. |
